"READERS ARE WINNERS"
Reading Challenge
This program is designed for all students who enjoy
reading at home. We know the more you read, the better
you will read. The goal of this program is for students
to read as much as possible at home during the entire
school year. The guildelines are as
follows:
- Students in the primary grades can read picture books
or have picture books read to them. For every picture
book read, students will receive one point.
- Students in the intermediate grades (and some primary
students) can read novels. For every ten pages read,
students will receive one point.
- Primary Grades: Students will receive reading sheets
for parents/guardians to complete. The parents will
record the book titles along with their signatures.
Parents can list as many books as possible on the sheet.
- Intermediate Grades: Students in the intermediate
grades must have their parents record the titles of their
novels, along with the total number of pages read. The
parents' signatures must be included.
- Students can turn in their reading sheets as often as
they wish. Please make sure students have read the books
before signing the sheets.
- Students may include all books read at home since
the first day of this school year.
Remember: The goals are for everyone to get excited about
reading at home, to earn as much as 1,000 points, and to
receive recognition for this outstanding achievement!
However, to participate in this program
students will need to earn a minimum of 176 points by the
end of the school year! Students that participate
in this program will automatically qualify for the Annual
7 Week School-wide Read-a-thon in March.
So everyone let's get started - READ!!
Sincerely,
Sheila Y. Carter
