Junior Achievement (JA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring students to value free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives. JA shows children the connection between school and the real world. Junior Achievement of Chicago has been in the Chicagoland area since 1944 and last year alone JA reached 285,000 students!
Junior Achievement is coming to Hatch Elementary on May 26th, 2005 for a "JA in a Day" event! In order for the program to be a success, WE NEED YOUR HELP! We will need one parent volunteer for each classroom at Hatch. Volunteers will present 5 lessons to the students in one afternoon. Materials and lesson plans are provided! Additionally, all volunteers will be trained at 6 PM on May 10th, 2005 before the PTO Meeting. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Allison Hennings ( a.hennings@sbcglobal.net ) with Hatch PTO, or Kristi Youngberg ( kyoungberg@jachicago.org, 708-456-1400 x 238 ) with Junior Achievement of Chicago.
Want to help, but not available for this event? Hatch can use your enthusiasm and energy in many other ways! Read about other volunteering opportunities here.
Junior Achievement (JA) is a non-profit organization that introduces children to the world of business through classroom interaction and education from kindergarten through high school. JA enables caring adults to share their experience with students to show them what it takes to be successful.
JA will give you the opportunity to help prepare young people for the future. Volunteers take pride in being role models and embrace the feeling of accomplishment they receive knowing they are making a difference. It's fun to share your own experiences and to be in a classroom again!
JA develops, creates, and provides all of the classroom materials and instructions, so you don't have to develop curriculum on your own. Each JA volunteer is provided with the complete packet of the program materials, which includes the lesson plans and all the materials to lead the activities and projects. For a "JA in a Day" you are in the classroom for one half day (approximately 3 hours) presenting 5 lessons.
Junior Achievement will provide training to all new JA volunteers. This training session familiarizes each volunteer to learn how to use the instructor materials provided. Hatch School's volunteers will be trained on May 10th from 6-7 PM at Hatch School.
