Hatch PTO is proud to promote the "Box Tops for Education" program. We will be collecting Box Tops coupons throughout the year. Each unexpired Box Top coupon is worth 10 cents when our school redeems them. Box Tops coupons are found on hundreds of products found at the local grocery store. It's an easy way to earn money for Hatch!

The first program of its kind in Oak Park, Hatch After Hours Enrichment Program started in September, 2005 with a four-week session. The program features enrichment classes in a variety of subject areas. The classes are scheduled for each day of the school week. These classes provide fun and challenging activities for students. The children go directly after school to classes that last for at least 1 hour. Children usually bring healthy snacks to eat before classes begin. This is an excellent educational alternative to after-school care! View sample class list (pdf - 149K).

Hatch Movie Night (HMN), in
association with Movie Licensing
USA, brings regularly scheduled evenings of
entertainment to Hatch for the whole family. Classic
films and new video releases are the featured
presentations, but audiences may also enjoy impromptu
dances, songs, and lively performances by Hatch
students and members of their families!
Preview upcoming attractions. Questions and comments should be directed to Huan Tran at: huan@hatchpto.org.

The Math-a-thon is a challenging and rewarding
program designed to improve math skills. The
Math-a-thon is scheduled on Monday for Grade 1,
Tuesday for Grade 2, Wednesday for Grade 3, Thursday
for Grade 4, and Friday for Grade 5.
Students who complete the work at their grade level
earn 120 points. Students have the opportunity to
complete the next grade level once they have
completed their present level.
The Hatch School Read-a-thon was introduced by
Principal Sheila Carter in 1999 to encourage
participation in the many rewards of reading. The
correlation between participation in the read-a-thon
and success on the ISAT Reading test is amazingly
high. There is no doubt that reading at home improves
academic skills! The Read-a-thon also rewards readers
for their efforts with a "Pizza and Play Day" at the
Naperville Gymnastic Center. This is typically held
in the Spring. Children must read at least 176 books
to qualify. Readers are winners!
Join the fun!
Thanks to Allison Hennings for the Read-a-thon form (doc
format - 48K).
Buy products you need at no extra cost and support
Hatch Elementary School!
Certificates or cards are used just like cash. They
are similar to gift certificates you would buy
directly from the store. Hatch buys these
certificates at a discount from the Manna Group, a
company serving non-profit organizations. When you
buy these certificates from Hatch at their face
value, the school profits from the difference. You
don't pay anything extra, and you help earn money for
our school.

We really do love books. All kinds of them. From frivolous and fun, to learning how to juggle, to mapping out a travel trip, or building your vocabulary, you will find a favorite book for your child and family at the book fair. Make it a priority this year to find fun time to read together.
Two Book Fairs are scheduled for Fall and early Summer. As we have done in the past, there will be an ice cream social to close-out the Summer Book Fair!
Questions? Contact the Co-Chairs: Carrie Tran or Cindi Buchta.
The All-School Halloween Parade is a wonder to experience. Each year the costumes become more creative. Our students adore the afternoon parade as they march around the school displaying their favorite costumes to parents and community.
Teachers play a crucial role in the education of our children. Teacher Appreciation shows how much we appreciate the teachers and the dedication and professionalism they bring to Hatch School everyday.

The Pumpkin Festival is a pumpkin decorating contest for the whole family. There are four categories of entrants. They are:
Three winners are chosen from each category. All child contestants will receive a ribbon for participating.
All Hatch 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are encouraged to participate in this year's Turkey Trot to be held at Taylor Park. The fastest boy/girl runners in each of the three grades will be rewarded with their very own frozen turkey, just in time for Thanksgiving! Permission slips need to be returned with a parent's signature in order to take part. We also need several parents to help monitor this event at points around the park, as well as an event photographer and a scribe to write up results for the website and the Hatch Dispatch. Opportunities to help are listed on the permission slip that will be sent home. We'd love to have full participation in this event from all the students in the three grades! See you at the park!!
Our budding child architects build creative gingerbread houses each winter. Parents take delight in an afternoon of sweet creation and end up with some very awesome houses. This is a traditional favorite activity with the Hatch School Community!

The Fun Fair is a perfect pick me up fundraising event during an all too long, cold winter. An evening of laughing, jumping and gaming in a carnival-like atmosphere. No Fun Fair is complete without a little food and drink. This event gets a four star - two thumbs up rating of approval from students K-5th grades.

musical magic awaits your ears as students perform
many of the instrumental pieces that they've worked
on all year long. Don't miss this event, it
highlights your child as the shining star you know

The Ethnic Festival celebrates our cultural diversity in a wonderful way. Sponsored by District 97, the event kicks off with an all District 97 parade. We march behind the Hatch banner dressed in ethnic attire, or just representing our support for diversity and fun. It's great family fun to be in a parade. Join us this year. After the parade there is food, entertainment and crafts brought to you by vendors serving food from different cultures around the world. All for your enjoyment.
